1 Day Older and A Lot Wiser

Yesterday, I turned 56. Being well over 30 (the age of distrust when I was young), is actually a pretty good thing. Aside from a few worn parts, I’m loving what 56 brings.

Thanks for all the well wishes, everyone! This afternoon we’ll be having my party. Lots of BBQ ribs and homemade potato salad and most of all my family.

Being older does mean being wiser. I’m really loving blogging and sharing all the different ideas and information that are bumping around in my brain and hope that you enjoy listening and sharing.

Hopefully you’re enjoying becoming wiser and 1 day older every day.

Instead of Making Jewelry

Today, I’m doing something really important “instead of making jewelry” . I’ve got a house full of boys, Scooby-Doo, Mac Cheese and Xbox.  Orion only wants to watch Scooby-Doo and thanks to TiVo he gets to. Kael wants Mac Cheese for every meal (Macaroni and Cheese for those of you who don’t speak 3-year-old). Hunter is helpful but 12-year-old bored. We’ll make dinner together so he gets some knife time.

Today, I -

  1. Woke up to Orion saying “Get up Grandma” at 7:30 after being up and down all night with Kael not feeling well and missing Mama.
  2. Played video games with Orion (he’s 3 and beats me).
  3. Watched Scooby-Doo, Sponge Bob and Mickey Mouse until I can sing the theme song.
  4. Mopped up an inch of water from the bathroom floor after the boys filled the toilet bowl with several handfuls of toilet paper. I had to stick my hand in and pull the clog out before I could get the waterfall to stop.
  5. Had the twins “help” me load the washing machine.
  6. Mopped up more water from a highly rambunctious “coffee time.”
  7. Played hide-and-go-seek until my ankle hurt.
  8. Rescued Kael – he had his foot caught in the banister.
  9. Took the candy thermometer away from Orion. Don’t even know where that came from.
  10. Got kissed dozens of times and told “put me down Grandma” and “be nice Grandma”.
  11. Laughed over and over again.
  12. Realized my day was perfect.

Now if I could get a full night sleep, I’d be ready to wrangle them again tomorrow.

Hunter and I are making dinner – pasta from scratch – for us and Mac Cheese for Kael and Orion (aka Kael Bugs and Chi-Chi).

Another juicy kiss!

Organizing Your Cleaning

I’m excited to share a great time saver – a folding storage bin/cart to carry all my cleaning products from room to room. Maids have carts so I figured there should be a home version. But I never found anything affordable or suitable for a 2-story house. During today’s trip to Office Depot, I discovered a buy-1-get-1 offer so I got one free for upstairs cleaning!

My $19.95 folding storage bin has a luggage-style long handle and easily holds all my favorite cleaners, paper towers, dust clothes, furniture cleaner and the small attachments for my steamer.

987304_sk_lg The bin has a lid and the handle easily collapses so the entire cart can slide into a closet or cabinet.

Yeah! I more item off my January “Make Me Happy” list.

P. S. The Office Depot BOGO sale is this week only and not available online.

Getting Back to Normal – Whatever that is!

Tomorrow Sandra leaves and we'll slowly go back to the Fullen family's normal. We've laughed, ate and lived well since she arrived on the 19th. I will absolutely need to go on a diet after our feasting. Here's a few of the many fattening delights we ate this holiday season - fudge, rum cake, fruitcake. coconut shrimp, whip cream, lemon meringue pie, candy and cookies. Our island themed Christmas meal was a success thanks to Dawn's inspiration. Off to enjoy our last feast - Sandra's famous beef stroganoff!

Christmas is Over Sort of. . .

Still enjoying the aftermath of Christmas. I've always suffered from the post-Christmas blues so I decided to just celebrate every day until reality sets in. Still have decorations up, company is still here, kids are still excited about gifts and we have tons of leftovers. Just thought I'd stop by and let you know where I've been. See ya in a few days!

Help I Lost the Day!

Don’t know where the day went? Time is an illusion but this was a “David Copperfield – vanish before your very eyes” day. So today’s post will be online later tonight. Check back for a great handmade jewelry find post.

Back from Vacation with 800 E-mails!

Back in the office today with way too many emails and that doesn't even count the SPAM folder that has almost tilted. We had a fabulous time with Hunter at racing school in Sonoma, CA. We also found some really great food by shaking my iPhone! What fun to explore and take changes. I'll be back later today with additional info on our trip and my newest handmade find.

Carrying the Boulder around

Ever feel like you’re carrying a boulder around? I’ve been feeling like that lately but keep trudging along to stay on top of marketing and promoting Rose of Sharon Jewelry’s newest releases.  A much needed trip to the Dr. brought things into perspective on taking better care of myself physically.

Just a heads up to faithful readers of this humble blog. I’m working on the next posts of the new business series  but you won’t see anything until next week after a short vacation.

Grandpa and Grandma Fullen are taking 12-year-old Grandson Hunter to the Jim Russell Racing School in Sonoma,  CA. He has shown talent in Kart racing so this is his birthday gift – a day and a half of classroom training and they to the world famous track to tear it up. Needless to say, he is thrilled.

I’m going to unplug from Thursday to Monday to give my brain and body a break. I’m so grateful to have the ability to do this and need to honor myself.

Thanks for your patience! I promise the upcoming posts will be worth the wait.

How big is your boulder? And what would it take to put it down?
