Winter in White – Handmade Pearl Jewelry

When you think of white jewelry, pearls are the first to come to mind. While pearls come in a variety of colors, white pearls are the classic standard. Freshwater and cultured pearls are farmed in Asia and their more organic shapes and colors (not the perfect round versions from Breakfast of Tiffany) are budget-friendly alternatives to the A+ pearls.

Another option is faux or glass pearls.  Jackie Kennedy Onassis was known for her pearls which were actually “fake”. Michelle Obama regularly wears large bold and colorful faux pearls.

Always and Forever is a lovely double strand of vintage glass pearls with coordinating earrings. These pearls (from my late Granny’s stash) are over 50 years old but have the same high quality luster as when they were first created.

There are lots of “whites” – ranging from those with a blue under cast to those with a yellow base. These have a very slight yellow cast which means they are called “off-white”.

The Empress necklace is a graduated strand of heirloom quality glass pearls with a matching pair of earrings.

This is called an “organic” necklace because the natural freshwater pearls have wonderful “love rings”. Love rings are tiny natural rings that encircle the pearl .
