Beautiful blue freshwater pearl "eggs" adorn sterling silver bird's nest earrings in today's great jewelry find. This messy (yet very controlled) wire wrapping style has been gaining popularity and this lovely pair of handmade earrings are a great example of the design technique. Out of the Pink Sky sells her handcrafted jewelry on Etsy. Stop by and give her a heart!

Finishing our prep for Saturday's booth/show at the Reno Scion promotional event so I haven't had time to write too much. Mom and Sarah are visiting, too so we've been working together to create several new wedding necklaces and learn some new techniques.

Polymer Clay Goes Steampunk: Today’s Great Handmade Find

Today’s great handmade find combines 2 creative interests: polymer clay and steampunk design. These intricately adored art blocks are by Valeriana Solaris and are on display at Flickr.

Each block side is carefully stamped, carved and adorned with screws, watch parts and other common steampunk elements.

But it is her multi-layered antiquing method that really amplifies each detail.

Valeriana also has ATC (altered trading cards) and other wonderful polymer clay creations on her Flickr photostream.

Telling A Story With Book Purses: Today’s Great Fashion Find

If you love purses like it do – this wonderful book purse using the classic Wizard of Oz is fun, practical and part of a thoughtful charity project.

Spoonful of Chocolate at Etsy makes beautiful purses from the covers while the stories within are donated to her local refugee center. She is also working to help family members in need.

If the Wizard of Oz isn’t your thing, you’ll find Scarlett (the Gone with the Wind sequel), Wuthering Heights or a passport holder from Anne of Green Gables.

Australian Artist Creates Chainmaille & Wire wrap Magnificence

My fingers just aren’t adept enough to do wire work especially something as magnificently intricate as the chainmaille and wire wrap jewelry created by Australian jewelry artist, Sharon Williams. I regularly feature other jewelry artists here and am so pleased to introduce my readers to Sharon’s art-to-wear. Her Etsy Store – Shazzabeth Creations – is filled with elaborate and complex designs in sterling silver. She also uses dramatic stones in her handcrafted creations. Here are just three of my favorites (it was a tough choice but I didn’t want this post to be miles long.)
