More Tributes to Granny

Betty (my Mom) posted this on Flickr for Granny: Yes, mother will always be missed. Everybody loved her and her buns which she still made without measuring anything. When asked what she should bring to a picnic etc, it was always bring your buns. She was agreeable most of the time. If she thought she was right, you couldn't change her mind which was still sharp as a tack even when she spend a year not being able to say that she wanted to say. She loved kids. She made baby quilts for Doernbecker Hospital for years. It was a trip to the hospital every year until the last few years when we found Summer who worked there so we would take her quilts to her and she would take the quilts to the hospital. One year she helped me sewed dresses and bags for baby dolls. She was making quilt tops just a few weeks before she died. She loved gardening and was moaning the fact she couldn't get outside to get the plants in the ground. Yes, she will be missed by her family. Her loving daughter, Betty

So Many Beads – So Little Time

Mom (Betty), Granny (Jennie) and I have been beading for hours upon hours since they arrived on Wednesday afternoon. Mom brought a wide selection of vintage beads including some lovely deep blue Lucite beads featured in Blue Satin (now posted on ArtFire). blue-satin-bracelet-1Our focus is on getting ample inventory of colorful, fun jewelry for the May Scion meet/concert. Our target audience is 18 to 24 guys and gals who are into alternative music, very casual clothing and the popular Scion cars. Josh (my son) sells Toyota's Scion line and is running this promotional concert so we have a free booth. Dawn and i will handle the booth while Arden takes care of the twins. Since this isn't our normal product line, this is a new experience for us. Should be lots of fun. Making all this jewelry sure is. We're loving creating memory wire bracelets in vibrant youthful colors, 60s influenced stretchy bracelets and wild colored necklaces.

Sew Much Talent – Olivia of Rose of Sharon Jewelry

My delightful sister-in-law Olivia is a wildly talented gal. She quilts, paints, sews, beads and decorates her home with her creations. Her expressive sewing talents can be seen in her Beyond the Rabbit Hole Etsy store and blog. She uses wonderful bright colors to create purses, totes, home decor and more. Many of her items have Alice in Wonderland themes which I absolutely love!

In Olivia's Etsy store, you'll also find Granny's (Jennie of Rose of Sharon Jewelry) handmade quilts. I am the proud owner of several of her precious quilts - all of which hold tremendous meaning for me - including a Sunbonnet girl made from my Mom's (Betty of Rose of Sharon Jewelry) baby dresses. You won't have the family ties to the quilt but buying one can bring a lot of love from her 95 year old hands into your life. Stop by here to see what Granny has listed now.

Creativity is a fluid thing that if given the chance will fill every crevice and hole in your life. Take a few minutes to leave a comment and tell me how your creativity has filled your life.
