Handmade Cross is Betty’s Glory to God

Betty's newest handmade cross necklace is the delicate silver filigree "Glory to God". The ornate 2-inch silver cross has Swarovski crystals in colors representing the precious gems of peridot, ruby, amethyst, sapphire and citrine. Instead of competing with these colors - Betty selected firepolish three-tone beads - clear, fuschia and blue. The necklace strand is hand linked chain using brilliant sterling silver wire and jump rings.

So Many Beads – So Little Time

Mom (Betty), Granny (Jennie) and I have been beading for hours upon hours since they arrived on Wednesday afternoon. Mom brought a wide selection of vintage beads including some lovely deep blue Lucite beads featured in Blue Satin (now posted on ArtFire). blue-satin-bracelet-1Our focus is on getting ample inventory of colorful, fun jewelry for the May Scion meet/concert. Our target audience is 18 to 24 guys and gals who are into alternative music, very casual clothing and the popular Scion cars. Josh (my son) sells Toyota's Scion line and is running this promotional concert so we have a free booth. Dawn and i will handle the booth while Arden takes care of the twins. Since this isn't our normal product line, this is a new experience for us. Should be lots of fun. Making all this jewelry sure is. We're loving creating memory wire bracelets in vibrant youthful colors, 60s influenced stretchy bracelets and wild colored necklaces.

New Jewelry Focus

Added a new product category to Rose of Sharon Jewelry today - faith-based jewelry. Black onyx crossThere seems to be a shortage of beaded necklaces which feature crosses so Mom (Betty) and Sandra are working on one-of-a-kind necklaces for women to wear their faith. The first piece entitled Faith is Betty's beautiful Black Onyx and silver cross. A classically symbolic design accenting the rich black of Onyx.

Spent the day in the photo studio so there are some new designs in the store and then started designing a new insert for our bracelet packaging. The insert keeps the individual pieces from tangling and jangling and doubles as a keepsake bookmark for customers.

Arden home from Vegas tonight. No he wasn't off gambling without me - he was at the International Builders' Show. It was a great week for the cellular PVC decking he represents. Great news in a down economy.

My cold is still hanging on but I am tackling it with TheraFlu hot drink. Don't know if it is any better than ordinary cold meds but I do like sitting down (rest?) and sipping the honey lemon drink.
