Great Saturday night cruise in Sparks, NV for Hot August Nights 2010. We all gathered to celebrate the American love of cars.

Every August, thousands bring their Model Ts, sleek 40s art deco designs, roaring muscle cars and crazy chopped creations to Northern NV.

Today’s Silent Sunday features a few favorites from this year’s show and shines.

The last picture is my favorite. I just love those art deco lines of the 40s!

The number 1 is a lonely number – 32 is a tragedy. 32 soldiers (7 in Iraq and Afghanistan) killed themselves in June. No words can express the sorrow.

We owe these men and women more than just a “how sad”. To learn more and watch the video, Shoulder to Shoulder: I will never quite on life ,visit this Army suicide prevention site.

I’ve also put the video here for you to watch. Please take a few minutes to follow up with your Congressperson about additional mental health support for our military.

I don’t know anyone in the service nor have I ever experienced a suicide in the family. However, I do know what depression can do to a person and feel strongly that the American public has a responsibility to these soldiers.

Many cities are cancelling fireworks this year. It wouldn’t be the 4th  without them so I’m sharing my pics of a Sparks, NV display.

Wishing all the Father’s a great day! I’m in awe of how father’s sacrifice so much to make sure kids are well cared for. A special thanks to Arden – you’ve been a sterling example and have changed destiny.

Father’s come in all sizes, shapes, colors and ages. And don’t forget Grandpa’s. Thousands of children are raised by Grandfather’s when parents are absent. God bless them, too.

My Dad passed away several years ago but he will always be in my heart.

With my laptop permanently napping, I forgot to create a Silent Sunday post. But I can tell you it was a much needed break. Made 2 bracelets and an anklet instead plus gardening and playing with water pistols!

Ahhhh!
