Mom joined me 2 weeks ago and lost 1.8 lbs the first week. We eat 3 meals a day and 3 snacks – including dessert every night.  Burgundy Deep features several  magnificent handcrafted authentic Bali beads. The center piece triangle of fine silver is from the back of my stash. Purchased directly from a Bali village known for its silver craftsmanship, these beads are ornately detailed and quite heavy. The accompanying beads are rich burgundy and black handcrafted lampwork glass.

Rings and Earrings = Love

My first wedding ring was a $50 gold band from a department store. Next Arden bought me a lovely ruby ring (my birthstone) as an anniversary gift. Then he gave me a soft pale blue Aquamarine ring (which I had to have cut off by a fireman after my finger became swollen – but that’s a whole ‘nother story). I found a great synthetic emerald that he bought me one year – love that bold green and of course, it’s real. It’s really filled with love.

I love big bold earrings so Arden surprised me one year with a pair of Lunch at the Ritz, bold, glittery fish in the sea. I own several more pairs but these are still my favorite. Women cross a restaurant to comment on them!

Now that I make jewelry for a living, I usually prefer to buy some faceted A+ gemstones or a wonderful strand of pearls and create my own necklaces and earrings. I love the feeling I get when I hold my creation in my hand.

Teal Twilight is such a fabulous  party necklace. I created this with freshwater pearls and sparkling silver beads.

A Tudor-style golden cross on a necklace of red Swarovski crystals would be a unique but very suitable necklace for a party dress. This is More than Gold from Betty.

I could tell the pressed glass had a vintage look including the slight edge around each bead. The picture showed swirly, soft hues of cream, white, lilac, brown and pink. Something just told me I had to have these.

When the package came, I was thrilled to discover that my instincts had been right. The shape is wonderful and the colors better than I anticipated. See for yourself below -

So now I had 5 new glass beads. Time to dig! My beads are divided by color so I pulled out yellows, browns, pinks, creams and whites. I quickly decided against yellow or white as they created to much contrast.

I was thrilled when I found the perfect Rhodochrosite beads in medium pink with just a touch of brown to soften it. Next was a strand of brown Rhodochrosite that I had bought the month before.

Rhodochrosite beads usually are a blend of colors such as both pink and brown stripes or swirls. The beads I had were color sorted and came from two separate vendors.

Keeping the vintage element in mind, I added antiqued gold over brass bicone beads and daisy spacers and a antique gold over pewter toggle clasp.

A simple single strand of straight stringing just seem best for this piece where the color theme is the most important part of the overall design.

The creative and planning process took over an hour as I sorted through all my options.
