As you rush through the day, ask yourself is this important or just tugging on your brain as urgent? Urgent things aren't necessarily important; nor are important things necessarily urgent. Many important things are best done slowly and deliberately - like reading a story to your child or slathering your dry skin with a fragrant cream. Neither are urgent for they have long-term importance in your life.
Create your own set of "IMPORTANTS" and focus 80% of your time on those. Don't let the URGENT GREMLIN* tell you otherwise. Soon your creative projects will find their rightful place in your life.

Terri Belford is a Craft Business Coach and she has an interesting angle on this age old question. Even in a down economy, people are joyously buying handmade but not everyone is selling! Drop by her site use this article to really look at what you are doing. It can be tough to be truthful as your art is your soul but if you want to be profitable then it is worth the potential uneasiness.

Making beautiful handmade jewelry or quilts or clothing or home decor uses your creative brain - but marketing and selling uses your analytical brain. And not every one is adept at using these opposite skills. If that is the case, perhaps you have a relative or friend who can help out - partnering with someone with opposing talents is a great way to fill out your business team.
