New Cooking Channel Debuts: Friday Finds
Foodie alert – the new Cooking Channel is live! Launched 5/31 to replace Fine Living, it’s not your Granny’s stale recipes here.
Cooking Channel is a hipper version of the Food Network. You will fine a mixture of favorites wondering over from the Food Network such as Rachel Ray and Giada De Laurentiis and vintage episodes from the first great TV chef, Julia Child.
But it’s the new faces that you’ll find most interesting.
-
Lovely and talented Ching-He Huang teaches you how to create Chinese take-out favorites. The Cooking Channel site has several great recipes from her show.
- Newcomer to TV, Bill Granger hosts Bill’s
Food. He is a Australian chef (he owns 3 Sydney restaurants) and cookbook author. Bill’s Food will be relaxed and casual dining.
One of his great comfort-food recipes, a fantastic grilled cheese and ham (French name included) was featured on the Almost Bourdain blog. This will make your mouth water.
Bill is a self-taught chef who has a great demeanor in the kitchen. Set your TiVo now!
- Mo Rocca, formerly of Comedy Central’s Daily Show,
hosts Food(ography). Some of us love knowing the who, what, where and why of food. He shares it all with a fun sense of humor and never bores.
- Love some music with your food? Roger Mooking is an award-winning musician and hosts Everyday Exotic. He describes his musical style as “a pick of 60’s Soul, Classic Hip Hop, The City, and some Spices”.
This YouTube video gives you a taste of his on-screen style.
- Cooking Channel has a great web site complete with biographies, recipes and of course, TV schedules. You’ll find the Cooking Channel on DirecTV, Dish and cable services around the U.S.
- Let me know if you find a great recipe to share. May your knives always be sharp, your spices pungent and your taste buds tangling.
